Walking down the back street at Vlicho (there are only two streets, the new one on the sea front and the old village one) we saw this rather lovely old communal oven. A close inspection seems to reveal earth and straw in the make-up of the oven dome, where it has chipped a little by the door, and it has obviously been limewashed. We think it is an original local cob oven – so we are in tune with vernacular building methods after all.
