Cat-napping

30 November 2011

We have worked out from when Tina said she had some kittens available that the cats must now be six months old, which is the right time to have them neutered.  There are far too many cats in Greece, many of whom starve to death in the winter after being fed by summer visitors.  We don’t want our cat population to grow, and we really don’t want to be drowning a batch of kittens every few months.  So we decided to spend 200 euros on neutering.  And at least we'll finally find out what gender they are!

First – catch your cats.  We borrowed these two cat boxes from the Lefkas Animal Welfare Society, and the plan is to put food further and further in over a period of days in order to acclimatise the cats and lure them into the trap.  In the event, they were both so curious, the first thing they did was go all the way in and sit there looking out.  But I don’t think we could’ve got close, so we continued with the first plan.
