Got lots done today and yesterday. Finally the foundation blocks are going into position, as Dave perfected the mortar mixing technique and I pressure washed loads of gravel.
This is how much soil turns into how much gravel - it's very stony ground:
Below is our locally-sourced, home-made tamper - for setting the gravel firmly into the bottom of each hole. Just after taking this photo I knocked it over and part of the top (rotten from lying on the ground for years) fell off. Still, the base is firm enough.
