Despite all the hype about the end of the world, we still wanted to recognise the key date in winter's cycle, the winter
solstice: 21-12-12. At our lat/long of 38 42 09 18N 20 41 42 85E we discovered from an internet search that solar noon would be at
12:36:30 Greek time; sunrise at 07:52
and sunset at 17:19. So we were all set to mark those moments on our woodhenge
house structure. But in the event, it
was too cold and misty to get out of bed at 07:52 and completely overcast at
12:36:30. All we did was gather together
some of our land’s natural produce and light a candle to give thanks for having
such a lovely spot to live in
