We tracked Constantine down in Lefkas the other day and
asked what the trouble was about the suggested hip roof to the west. He said no problem, except that it isn’t on
the permit and we’d have to be nice to the buildings inspector when they
visited. If we don’t change the plans we
can be rude to the inspector. This is
apparently to be desired. So we had a
rethink and Dave suggested we have a shortened cob wall up to the mezzanine,
with a lean-to roof over. Then we do a
wood and insulation wall up to the apex.
The lean-to gives us cover for the generator and probably for pushbikes
or motorbike as well, while the lower cob is easier to produce and to maintain,
and is better protected. So I adjusted the model. The new plan gives a sort of Tudor stables
look to the west end of the house.
