More wild weather. We
still have no internet, which has been down since the storms in October, so we
took computers into Nidri to catch up on emails and suchlike. Then the rain lashed down with wild winds,
and we were glad to be warm and dry – and sort of minding the boat (from a
distance).
We drove home around 4ish, in daylight, plenty of time to
put the chickens to bed, and drove up to find a clearly traumatised Astrochuck
standing in the rain, staring with glazed eyes into the distance. Our arrival drove her under the decking, but
she was still just standing there. Clearly something bad had happened. We were already in oilskins, so we charged
around the perimeter, calling and clucking.
Notso appeared, trotting gaily as usual, from somewhere relatively dry,
but there was no sign of Megachuck.

We told ourselves she’d come home at bedtime. But she didn’t. We shut the other two in the chickenhouse but
left the pen open, just in case. We were
going out to the Yacht Club quiz because Laurie needed a team and had slipped
us the King’s Shilling earlier in the day.
We checked the pen several times in the dark, but eventually realised
we’d have to wait till daylight, and hope she was hiding somewhere safe.
