Tuesday morning and the workforce comes back (they disappear
for a week or so every so often – we’ve no idea why) and everyone sat around
making final decisions about the roof pitch.
Constantine had remembered that we are supposed to have a trombe wall
(glass face to the cob wall to provide passive solar heating in the winter) on
the south, and that the roof therefore had to be pitched high enough to span an
extra couple of metres. Yiannis
Woodworker’s workforce, Rap the Albanian, shinned up the structure and strolled
carelessly across the rafters to fix batons at various heights while we all
shouted suggestions. This is the line
finally agreed. The line extends to the
right over the proposed trombe area where the ladder stands.
