Feathers everywhere
The hole in the fence. Not very clear, but where the chicken wire had
been in contact with the ground for four years, it had weakened. I
presume the fox was trying it regularly, and finally it broke. Can it have been a coincidence that it was a noisy, blustery night?
Dave drew the unpleasant duty
We had some offcuts of much stronger wire from fencing that had been cut out when the gate was put in, so Dave got the grinder out to cut it into strips, while I crawled along 'sewing' it to the outside of the existing framework with galvanised wire.
After doing a vertical section, I went back and worked along again with a horizontal section, which Dave then fixed down with rebar 'tent pegs' to make extra secure.
We should get more than four years out of this.
The final stretch. All secure, but when we went to the farm shop they didn't have any chickens coming in for a couple of weeks. It seems very strange not having chickens.
