We had been getting on with work on Tropi throughout, and Dave had just about finished fixing the hole in the stern. She looks very bare without any steelwork, and it’s surprising how freaky it is to be on the deck without the guardrails. Surprising amount of security those two thin wires give you.
Meanwhile, rain has been pouring in through the toerail screw holes in the deck, and I’ve got a full time job just keeping her bailed and dry.
The photo shows the stress fractures in the gelcoat at the point of impact, gouged out so that they can be filled and polished. It’s a strange thing to see lines cut deliberately in the boat – it’s been done with an old dentist’s drill bit (begged from Nick in Hightown years ago) in a Dremel.
