The toilet arrives

Tuesday 28 December 2010

... turned out to be momentous in it's way.  We were up early to put the boys on the bus, and returned via the Post Office.  We'd received the toilet installation kit and starter compost a week earlier, but the main box, containing the loo itself, had not arrived with them.  I was getting worried, as this thing was coming from Sweden via distributors in Belgium, at considerable expense, and I didn't want some bored processing clerk somewhere to turn it away.

There was no delivery note in our numbered box at the PO but the counter was quiet, so I asked if they had received anything.  When I said my name, a look of delight crossed the counter assistant's face, and we were ushered into the small back sorting room - the inner sanctum - which was overwhelmed by our metre cubed toilet box.  They opened the back door and gratefully showed us and the box out into the street.

Excitedly, we collected our lunch (turkey soup, of course) and went up to Goat Bottom to attempt installation.

When I text George for an update, he was very pleased: 'We're safe at airport, and toilet has arrived - nothing more for you to fret about!'
