Dave’s birthday, and we’d promised ourselves the opportunity to get some gardening done. Every year at this time we’re so busy with the boatyard, we just don’t get a decent kitchen garden planted.
First off, we checked on our new orchard trees.
The new pear tree is flourishing. At the end of each branch is this alien creature.
And the nectarine
And the apple - I think? Maybe the apricot, or the almond – one of them, anyway.
The peach is overrun with ants. I didn’t even notice, till I looked at the photo close-up.
And the first orchid of the year – a bee orchid, in a vulnerable place (where the kids like to play).
We have this incredible patch of anemones under one of the olive trees.
And the field next door is deep in daisies. The white fluff in the photo behind the olive tree is all daisies. They may be chamomile, we keep meaning to check.
