So we've been thinking hard about the foundations, and I did some drawings of our latest thoughts. The biggest issue at this stage is whether the wood frame is inside or outside the cob, and by how much. Our meeting with Constantine last week left us thinking we would maybe have to consider an exo-skeleton of wood.
This would be very expensive, by the time we'd put in a foundation large enough to support the cob and the wood frame. At the corners, the frame could be a metre or more away from the cob wall, and both those structures need foundations. I drew these ideas out, to get a better idea.
Things are going on for Dave and Rob that are quite exciting, if a distraction from our build plans, which are secret at the moment (as far as anything is secret in village-Nidri). So in the evening, we walked down into town for meetings and discussions (to be revealed in good time), passing the first of these of the year on the way.
