A Moving Experience

Wednesday 12 June 2013

At long last, some progress was made at moving the Winnebago off the land.  Some progress, at least.  Alison, Michael and the kids arrived, with a bottle of wine for us, a can of fuel for the Winni and determination.  After a quick stiffener, we all went to watch Michael give it a go.  During the proceedings Lin and Pete from up the hill came by to borrow the car, and helped watch.

Impressively, after two years in a field, she started up first time.  Michael disconnected all the services and the show began!

Some serious watching going on: Lin, Alison and Dave

First move: forward between the spindly trees of our attempt orchard

Calculating the risk factor (to the trees)

How those trees survived, I'll never know!

Half off the track, one more reverse before achieving escape trajectory

This is where we all yelled 'stopppp!' as crunching sounds were heard

Oops!  Where did that tree come from?

Chainsaw remedy.  Pity, I liked that tree.

It gave as good as it got, however.

The watchers were largely unimpressed

Not quite round far enough, one more shuffle ...

... and the engine cut out.

Alison went for more fuel, but it turned out it wasn't that, but some electrical fault.  So the family retired in defeat for today, promising to return tomorrow with Andy who's good with electrics - leaving us just enough room to squeeze a car through the gap.
