Still plastering. But by 5.30 pm we had the best part of a first coat of plaster on all the bale walls. It's a very uneven layer, rising and falling into the dips and bumps of the bale structure, but we've come up with a plan for that. Actually, it's Dave's plan, put together from reading our various books on plastering bale walls. We want a first coat to protect the bales, then we go round with a filler mix and even out the surface to some extent - it'll never be flat and smooth (we don't want that), but enough to make putting on the second and subsequent coats a bit easier and quicker.
